New radiation method may help liver cancer patients stay on transplant list

NCT ID NCT06218420

First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests a high-precision radiation treatment called SBRT in 139 adults with liver cancer who are waiting for a liver transplant but cannot receive standard bridging treatments like radiofrequency ablation or chemoembolization. The goal is to see if SBRT can successfully control the tumor and keep patients eligible for transplant for at least 15 months. SBRT is non-invasive, avoids general anesthesia, and may be an option for tumors in difficult locations.
