New surgery aims to remove stomach tumors without major incisions

NCT ID NCT07550582

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests a new surgical technique for people with non-cancerous or early cancerous tumors at the junction of the stomach and esophagus. The approach combines two types of scopes (laparoscope and endoscope) with a step to reduce blood flow to the tumor area before removal. The goal is to see if this method is safe and effective, potentially reducing complications and the need for open surgery. About 40 adults aged 18 to 80 with tumors 1-5 cm in size will participate.
