Quick quiz could catch muscle loss early in cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07404527

First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at how well a simple questionnaire (SARC-F) can identify gastrointestinal cancer patients who are at risk for sarcopenia—a condition where they lose muscle mass and strength. Sarcopenia can lead to more complications and worse outcomes, even in patients who seem well-nourished. The goal is to catch it early so patients can get nutritional support and better care. About 60 adults with head and neck cancer will be screened before and during treatment.
