Simple tape measure vs. High-Tech scan: which better spots dangerous muscle loss in seniors?
NCT ID NCT05869487
Summary
This study aims to find out if a simple calf measurement with a tape measure works as well as a special X-ray scan for diagnosing sarcopenia (serious muscle loss) in hospitalized people aged 75 and older. Researchers will compare the two methods in 298 participants to see if the easier, cheaper tape measure is accurate enough for hospital use. The goal is to improve and simplify how doctors screen for this condition, which increases the risk of falls and other health problems.
