Immune cells may reveal hidden salt sensitivity in hypertension

NCT ID NCT03753204

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looks at whether certain immune cells (monocytes) can be used as a simple marker to diagnose salt-sensitive high blood pressure. Researchers will test 20 adults with high blood pressure by giving them high and low salt diets and measuring their blood pressure and immune cell activity. The goal is to find a faster, cheaper way to identify salt sensitivity, which affects about half of people with high blood pressure.
