Spit test could replace scary nose swabs for sick babies

NCT ID NCT07350291

Summary

This study is testing if a simple saliva sample can accurately diagnose respiratory infections in children under 2 years old, as an alternative to the current standard nose swab. Researchers will compare results from both methods in 502 children to see if the saliva test is just as good. The goal is to find a less stressful and painful way to get a reliable diagnosis for common childhood illnesses like bronchiolitis.
