Can a daily sage pill keep Middle-Aged minds quick?
NCT ID NCT07757529
First seen Aug 11, 2026 · Last updated Aug 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether a daily sage extract supplement, called SageXtra, can improve memory, attention, and reaction time in healthy middle-aged men and women. Participants take either the sage supplement or a placebo for a period, then complete a series of computer-based mental tasks. The goal is to see if this natural herb, known for antioxidant properties, offers a simple way to support cognitive function as we age.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- SageXtra, a sage (Salvia officinalis) extract powder taken as 333 mg daily in capsule form
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a natural supplement to help middle-aged adults maintain or improve everyday memory and mental sharpness.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial, and results may not apply to everyone. Sage supplements can have side effects, and the benefit over placebo may be minimal.
