New drug cocktail shows promise for tough leukemia
NCT ID NCT03900949
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 37 times
Summary
This early-phase study tested whether adding two targeted drugs (gemtuzumab ozogamicin and midostaurin) to standard chemotherapy is safe for people with a specific genetic type of acute myeloid leukemia (FLT3-mutated AML). The study involved 21 newly diagnosed patients and aimed to find the best dose with acceptable side effects. While the approach may improve treatment, patients typically need ongoing therapy, so this is not a cure.
