New pneumonia vaccine passes first safety check in adults

Summary
This early-stage study tests a new pneumococcal vaccine (PG4) to see if it is safe and tolerable in adults. About 380 healthy adults will receive either the experimental vaccine, a similar vaccine, a standard vaccine, or a placebo. Researchers will monitor side effects and blood tests for up to 18 months after vaccination.
