Emergency room suicide prevention plan put to the test
NCT ID NCT04230434
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a safety-planning intervention, already shown to help U.S. veterans, can work in a busy emergency department for adults who have attempted suicide or have severe suicidal thoughts. Researchers measured how often the plan was used and how satisfied patients were with it. The goal was to see if this simple, talk-based tool can be put into everyday practice to help prevent future suicide attempts.
