Stent timing trial aims to cut pancreatitis complications
NCT ID NCT07346365
First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study looks at the best time to remove a small plastic tube (stent) placed in the pancreas after a common bile duct procedure called ERCP. The stent is meant to prevent pancreatitis, but keeping it too long or removing it can cause side effects. About 358 adults who need this stent will be randomly assigned to have it removed early or later, and researchers will track complications, how often the stent falls out on its own, and hospital stays.
