New study aims to find safer heart failure treatment for kidney patients

Summary
This study tests whether a newer drug, finerenone, is safer than an older drug, spironolactone, for people with heart failure and diabetic kidney disease who are at high risk for high potassium levels. About 60 participants will receive either finerenone daily or spironolactone every other day, plus standard care. The main goal is to see which drug causes fewer dangerous potassium spikes or treatment interruptions over 4 weeks.
