New combo therapy aims to tame overactive immune system with fewer side effects

NCT ID NCT06160791

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests a new combination of drugs for adults newly diagnosed with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a rare condition where the immune system attacks the body. The treatment uses ruxolitinib plus a shorter, lower-dose course of standard therapy (dexamethasone and etoposide) to try to control the disease while reducing toxic side effects. About 36 adults will take part to see if this approach works and is safer.
