Can a common steroid preserve lung function in a rare scarring lung disease?

NCT ID NCT07210008

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether the steroid prednisolone can slow the decline in lung function in people with fibrotic hypersensitivity pneumonitis, a lung disease that causes scarring and breathing problems. About 120 adults with mild to moderate lung impairment will receive either prednisolone or a placebo for 6 months. The main goal is to see if the steroid helps maintain lung capacity better than a dummy pill.
