Brain zaps show promise for nerve pain in spinal injury patients

NCT ID NCT06197113

First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tested two types of non-invasive brain stimulation—intermittent theta burst (iTBS) and 10 Hz repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS)—against a fake treatment to see if they could reduce nerve pain in people with spinal cord injury. 26 adults with long-term, drug-resistant pain took part. The main goal was to see if these treatments could lower pain severity and improve daily function, with a secondary focus on depression. Results are not yet reported.
