Could a common supplement boost blood counts in bone marrow disease?

NCT ID NCT07579429

First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a combination of nicotinamide riboside (a form of vitamin B3) and pterostilbene (a plant compound) can safely improve low blood counts in people with certain bone marrow conditions. Ten adults with lower-risk myelodysplastic syndrome or high-risk clonal cytopenia of undetermined significance will take the supplements for 24 weeks. The main goal is to see if hemoglobin levels rise by at least 1 g/dL, while also monitoring for side effects.
