New study tests if a minor surgical boost can protect tooth roots during braces
NCT ID NCT07458139
First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study will compare two ways to move upper canine teeth after premolar extraction: one with a minor surgical procedure (corticotomy) and one without. The goal is to see which method causes less root shortening, a common side effect of braces. Sixty patients aged 12-30 will be randomly assigned to either approach, and root changes will be measured on X-rays.
