Root canal pain relief: tiny file trick tested
NCT ID NCT07233590
First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a technique called apical patency can lower pain after a root canal. In the patency group, a tiny file was gently passed just beyond the tooth tip during cleaning to prevent blockages. The other group kept all tools inside the tooth. Both groups had the same standard procedures. Pain was measured over 48 hours in 72 adults with single-rooted teeth.
