Gene clues may predict who benefits from cancer drug cetuximab
NCT ID NCT01827956
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at whether small differences in certain genes (FCγRIIIA and FCγRIIA) can predict how well the drug cetuximab works in people with advanced head and neck cancers that cannot be cured by surgery or radiation. Researchers analyzed blood samples from 121 participants to check for these gene variations and then tracked how long the cancer stayed under control. The goal was to find a way to personalize treatment, but the study was observational and did not test a new therapy.
