Robotic vs. Camera-Only lung surgery: which is better for patients and the healthcare system?

NCT ID NCT02617186

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 44 times

Summary

This study compares two minimally invasive surgeries for early-stage lung cancer: robotic-assisted surgery and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). Both use small incisions, but robotic surgery offers 3D imaging and more precise instrument control. The goal is to see which approach leads to better quality of life and lower costs. About 446 adults with stage I to IIIa non-small cell lung cancer will take part.
