Robot vs surgeon: which breast cancer surgery leaves patients happier?
NCT ID NCT07230535
First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study compares two types of nipple-sparing mastectomy (breast removal that saves the nipple) followed by DIEP flap reconstruction (using belly tissue to rebuild the breast). Half the participants will have open surgery, the other half robotic-assisted surgery through a single small cut in the armpit. The goal is to see which approach leads to better patient satisfaction, body image, and quality of life one year after surgery. About 250 women with early breast cancer or high genetic risk will take part.
