Summary
This study compares two types of nipple-sparing mastectomy (keeping the nipple) for women with breast cancer or high genetic risk: traditional open surgery versus a newer robotic-assisted method using a single small incision. All participants will also have immediate DIEP flap breast reconstruction (using their own belly tissue). The goal is to see which approach leads to better patient satisfaction, body image, and quality of life one year after surgery. About 250 women will take part across multiple hospitals in Ireland.
