First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This pilot study tests whether using a robotic glove for 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week can improve quality of life, grip strength, and fine motor control in people with ALS. Five participants will use the glove at home for 8 weeks, with regular check-ins. The goal is to see if this assistive device can make daily tasks easier and boost well-being.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

robotic glove

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple, at-home device to help people with ALS maintain hand function and daily independence.

What could go wrong

This is a very small pilot study with only 5 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The device is assistive, not a treatment for the disease itself.
