Summary
This study tested whether the drug ritlecitinib can protect people with celiac disease from gut damage and symptoms when they eat gluten. 62 adults with well-controlled celiac disease (on a gluten-free diet) took either the drug or a placebo along with a daily gluten challenge. The goal was to see if the drug could prevent the intestinal injury and discomfort typically caused by gluten.
