New hope for kids with rare lung disease as drug trial advances

NCT ID NCT02562235

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This study tested the safety and correct dose of the drug riociguat in 24 children aged 6 to 18 with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a serious lung condition that makes it hard for the heart to pump blood. The children took different doses over several weeks, and researchers monitored side effects, vital signs, and drug levels in the blood. The goal was to find a safe dose for children, not to cure the disease.
