Could your own tooth help save your jawbone for implants?

NCT ID NCT06429540

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether a graft made from a patient's own tooth (partially demineralized dentin block) works better than a standard cow-bone graft (xenograft) for preserving the jawbone after a tooth is pulled. Twenty-six healthy adults with a non-restorable front tooth received one of the two treatments. After 6 months, the researchers measured changes in bone width and height using 3D scans to see which method better maintained the bone shape for future dental implants.
