Arm cuff therapy shows promise for stroke recovery

NCT ID NCT06170944

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests if repeatedly inflating a blood pressure cuff on the arm (remote ischemic preconditioning) can improve collateral blood flow in the brains of people who have had a stroke due to a blocked large artery. About 300 adults over 40 with stable stroke symptoms will receive either the cuff treatment or a sham procedure for 12 months. The goal is to see if this simple, non-invasive technique can boost the brain's backup blood vessels and reduce the risk of another stroke.
