New trial tests clot removal for severe brain vein blockage
NCT ID NCT07548346
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests whether removing blood clots from the brain's veins (endovascular thrombectomy) plus standard blood-thinning medication works better than medication alone for people with severe cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). The trial will include 440 adults at high risk of poor outcomes, such as those with bleeding or brain injury. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups, and the main goal is to see if more people achieve functional independence after 12 months.
