Can heart scans guide artery treatment after valve procedure?

NCT ID NCT02797158

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tested a new approach for people who had a TAVI procedure (a less invasive way to replace a heart valve) and also had blocked heart arteries. The idea was to use a special heart scan (SPECT) after TAVI to decide which blockages needed opening. The study included 71 adults with severe aortic stenosis and significant coronary artery disease who were not candidates for open-heart surgery. The goal was to see if this imaging-guided strategy could reduce death, stroke, bleeding, or heart-related hospital stays.
