New camera peers at retina cells in unprecedented detail
NCT ID NCT05643157
First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tested a new type of camera that can see the individual cells of the retina, which standard clinical cameras cannot. Five people with retinal disease (inherited degeneration or toxicity) had their eyes imaged with both standard instruments and the new camera. The goal was to compare image quality and see how cell structure changes in disease. No treatment was given; this was purely an observation and technology-testing study.
