First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study tested whether having patients keep a diary of their breathing exercises after major abdominal surgery helps reduce lung complications and improve recovery. Sixty adults who had surgery like colon or liver resection took part. For three days after surgery, one group used a diary to track their breathing exercises while the other group did not. The goal was to see if the diary helped with breathing, tiredness, and walking ability.
