Sleep apnea mystery: why do 1 in 3 patients stay sleepy after treatment?

NCT ID NCT07545421

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at why over a third of people treated for obstructive sleep apnea still feel very sleepy during the day, raising their risk of accidents. Researchers will measure oxygen drops during sleep and compare them to results from a standard alertness test. They will also test simpler ways to measure sleepiness, like driving simulators and reaction-time tasks, to find better tools for routine checkups.
