Stomach size after sleeve surgery may predict weight loss failure

NCT ID NCT01539967

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looked at 90 adults who had sleeve gastrectomy surgery for obesity but did not lose enough weight. Researchers measured the remaining stomach volume two years after surgery to see if a larger leftover stomach was linked to failure. The goal was to find a way to predict and improve treatment for people who don't get good results from the procedure.
