Heart valve failure: which fix lasts longer?
NCT ID NCT07462624
First seen Mar 12, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study compares two procedures for people whose surgically placed heart valve (bioprosthetic aortic valve) has stopped working properly. One option is repeat open-heart surgery to replace the valve again. The other is a less invasive procedure called valve-in-valve, where a new valve is placed inside the old one using a catheter. The study will follow 890 participants for 5 years to see which approach better prevents death, stroke, heart attack, or the need for another procedure.
