First seen Dec 09, 2025 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving an additional anesthetic nerve block after pancreatic surgery helps patients use fewer opioid painkillers. 136 adults having open pancreatic surgery for cancer were randomly assigned to receive either one nerve block or a repeat block. The main goal was to see how many patients could be discharged without needing opioids. The approach aims to lower the risk of opioid dependence and improve recovery.
