New ultrasound technique could prevent unnecessary treatments in pregnant women with kidney swelling

NCT ID NCT07547891

First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special ultrasound technique called shear wave elastography can help doctors tell the difference between normal kidney swelling during pregnancy and swelling caused by a blockage that needs treatment. Researchers will measure kidney stiffness in 250 pregnant women with kidney swelling. The goal is to find a safe, non-invasive way to improve diagnosis and guide care.
