Arm cuff therapy could protect heart and brain after stroke

NCT ID NCT07531394

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests a treatment called remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) for people who have both a stroke and a related heart injury. RIC involves using a blood pressure cuff on the arm to briefly restrict blood flow, which may protect the heart and brain. The trial will include 580 adults and compare RIC to a sham procedure given twice daily for 14 days. The goal is to see if RIC reduces serious heart and brain events over 3 months.
