Could a blood pressure cuff on your arm prevent a second stroke?

NCT ID NCT07412249

First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether a non-invasive treatment called remote ischemic conditioning (using a blood pressure cuff to briefly stop blood flow to an arm) can reduce the risk of strokes, heart attacks, and other major events in people who have had a stroke or mini-stroke due to a narrowed carotid artery and are receiving a stent. About 300 participants will be randomly assigned to receive the conditioning treatment or a sham procedure over 12 months. The goal is to see if this simple, low-cost approach improves long-term outcomes.
