New tube trick may soothe sore throats after surgery
NCT ID NCT06218836
First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tested a new way to insert a breathing tube during surgery to reduce sore throat afterward. Instead of the usual deflated cuff, doctors used a pre-inflated cuff to glide past the vocal cords with less friction. 250 adults with easy airways took part. The goal was to see if this simple change lowers the chance and severity of a sore throat after surgery.
