Summary

This study tested whether training traditional birth attendants (local midwives) to provide mental health support can reduce depression in pregnant women in rural Kenya. 220 pregnant women with depression took part. The goal was to see if this approach could lower depressive symptoms and improve well-being for mothers and their babies.
