Veterans helping veterans: One-Hour chat could save lives from firearm suicide

NCT ID NCT07033884

First seen Mar 14, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether a one-hour, peer-led conversation about safe firearm storage can help veterans store their guns more securely. Researchers will compare this approach to simply giving out educational materials. The goal is to reduce the risk of firearm suicide, a top concern for the VA. One hundred veterans who own firearms and currently store them unsafely will take part.
