Study aims to reduce radiation side effects in throat cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT04384627

Summary

This large Phase 3 trial is testing whether doctors can safely reduce the size of the radiation treatment area for patients with advanced nasopharyngeal (upper throat) cancer. The study compares targeting the original tumor size versus the smaller size after initial chemotherapy, to see if the smaller area provides the same cancer control with fewer long-term side effects. It involves 445 newly diagnosed patients receiving standard chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
