Researchers look back to find keys to better Second-Chance rectal cancer surgeries
NCT ID NCT07279961
Summary
This study looked back at medical records to understand what factors help make a second surgery successful for rectal cancer patients who had complications or a local return of their cancer. Researchers analyzed 143 patients who had this 'redo' surgery to see who was able to restore normal bowel function and avoid a permanent colostomy bag. The goal was to gather knowledge to help doctors better predict which patients are good candidates for this complex procedure.
