First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 43 times
Summary
This study tests whether shining red and blue light on surgical wounds can help them heal faster after perianal abscess surgery. 222 adults will be split into three groups: standard wound care, standard care plus red light, or standard care plus both red and blue light. Researchers will measure wound healing time, pain, and complications to see if light therapy makes a difference.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
red and blue light therapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, non-drug way to help surgical wounds heal faster and with less pain.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with no blinding, so results may be influenced by patient expectations. Light therapy may not provide significant benefit over standard care alone.
