Are doctors missing crucial cancer clues? study investigates reporting gaps
NCT ID NCT07345273
Summary
This study aims to check if doctors are properly reporting small spots of cancer called 'tumor deposits' found near the main rectal tumor on MRI scans and in lab reports after surgery. Researchers will look at records from about 225 patients who had surgery between 2007-2017 and 2022-2024 to see if reporting improved after updated guidelines. Finding these deposits is important because patients who have them may need additional treatments like chemotherapy to reduce the risk of cancer returning.
