New chemo cocktail may boost survival in advanced rectal cancer
NCT ID NCT06048146
First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a stronger three-drug chemotherapy (FOLFOXIRI) before surgery to remove rectal cancer that had spread to nearby lymph nodes. 180 patients were randomly assigned to get either this new combo or standard chemoradiation before surgery. The goal was to see if the stronger chemo could improve how long patients live without the cancer coming back. The study also looked for genetic markers that might predict who benefits most.
