New combo treatment aims to shrink rectal tumors, spare patients from surgery
NCT ID NCT04643366
Summary
This study is testing a specific order of chemotherapy and a short, intense course of radiation given before surgery for rectal cancer. The goal is to see if this approach helps patients live longer without the cancer returning and increases the chance the tumor disappears completely. For some patients who respond very well, it might even allow them to avoid surgery and instead be closely monitored.
