Surgery vs. chemo: which helps more when rectal cancer spreads?
NCT ID NCT02314182
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looked at people with rectal cancer that has spread to other parts of the body and cannot be fully removed. It compared having surgery to remove the main tumor followed by chemotherapy, versus having chemotherapy alone. The goal was to see which approach helps patients live longer. Only 5 people took part, so the results are very limited.
