New surgical technique may reduce pain and wound issues for rectal cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07358247

First seen Jan 25, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at two ways to remove rectal cancer using minimally invasive surgery. One method removes the tumor through the anus, avoiding extra cuts in the belly. The other uses a small belly cut. Researchers want to see if the newer method leads to fewer wound problems and less pain after surgery. About 190 adults with rectal cancer who had surgery between 2017 and 2023 will be included.
