First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study is testing a new endorectal imaging device that combines ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging to better assess rectal cancer after treatment. About 90 adults with rectal cancer who are scheduled for surgery will be scanned with the device. The goal is to see if the device can accurately identify which patients have had a complete response to treatment, potentially allowing some to avoid surgery.
